Stripping Paint From Garage Floor

Stripping paint from garage floor. Mix the paint well and apply a thin even first coat. You may need to remove an epoxy coating from a garage floor in the case where the epoxy coating was improperly applied or it is old and flaking on its own. Use a long handled scraper and begin a back and forth pattern across the room until all the paint is free from the concrete. Using either hand sanitizer or a soap cleaning solution made from 2 tablespoons dishwashing detergent and 1 gallon warm water scrub with a wire or heavy duty brush to lift up the paint.

An effective method for removing paint stains from concrete is to use floor grinders with diamond wheels. Paint spills on a concrete floor can be vanquished with commercial cleaners. First use a stiff brush and a paint scraper to loosen the paint and vacuum up all debris. Let the first coat dry thoroughly about 24 hours.

Remove paint stripper residue. Once you scrape the floor with the metal or plastic scraper you will need to apply a solvent such as lacquer or acetone to remove the remaining coating. After the paint bubbles and starts to pull away from the floor you need to scrape. Effectively removes coatings on both interior and exterior surfaces.

Next apply a chemical paint. When selecting paint for your garage floor make sure to choose an epoxy paint created especially for garage floors. It should be used only if you plan to have a topping of cement because the grinder often leaves behind scrapes on the concrete. Paint stripper for concrete removes layers of paint stain sealers and epoxy coatings.

Strong paint stripping agents can be used with either a blast machine or applied by hand using a stiff wire brush to loosen the rest of the garage floor paint. For this stage of the job so long as you re working on a compact concrete patch you can probably get by with a wire scrub brush or a paint scraper.
